News of the day: The site is back, long live the site! After 20 hours this weekend, I didn't have time to complete today's comic.  It's halfway done and is even plot-related!  I'm really sorry for the high proportion of Wrong Things during the overhaul, but that's behind us.  Next time, I'll have a stock of strips done in advance.  In cheerier news, we broke the 1000 mark at BCX! Thanks for your votes!  After the last week of cursing at my screen, it's really heartening to see proof that you're really out there enjoying the strip.

Now, for a retail story from Mary: Have you ever looked around at your understaffed place of employment and wondered if there were actually more executives than workers? If you answered yes, imagine the following scenario:
This is Bob’s 1st day as a new executive standing around with a bunch of people in suits and Bob’s new boss is speaking.
“Hi Bob, I am Bill, President of appointment approval. You have been appointed chairperson of the appointment committee. This is George, he is responsible for appointing people to the appointment committee. He is the one who recommended you. After this conversation he will be the person you answer to and we will have no further contact. Once you meet all of the appointment committee members, I would also like you to swing down to meet the committee management committee. They are responsible for making sure each committee has all the resources it needs. If there are ever problems within your committee, there is the inter-committee anger management committee, but if that doesn’t work, there is the committee review committee that decides when old committees should be replaced. All of these committees are made possible by our finest committee, the one we refer to as the fat trimming committee. They get rid of all the unnecessary customer service associates. Congratulations Bob and remember, no further contact.”

Of course, I believe that chocolate cake is acceptable breakfast food, but I don't label it low fat...  CF

Next in Getting By: What challenge was that, exactly?  What was the desired Christmas present?  Will we stay above 1000 this month in BuzzComix rankings?  Well, that last one depends on you guys... please?
